Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BScPhm)

Students in the Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy program at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy are educated to address a growing societal need in the health care system - the responsibility of pharmacists to maximize the therapeutic benefits of patients' drug thereapy and reduce drug-related morbidity and mortality. The four year program emphasizes patient care, with current courses focusing on the following areas the study of health systems in society, the role of the pharmacist in health care, the provision of quality health care in the community setting, and strengthening the continuity of care between hospitals and community settings. Specialist in Pharmaceutical Chemistry (PharmChem)

Pharmaceutical Chemistry combines knowledge of the biological, medical, and physical sciences in the study of the scientific aspect of drug therapy. The emphasis is on the chemical nature of the reactions and interactions involved in drug therapy. Students in the Specialist in Pharmaceutical Chemistry program will receive a solid background in physical, organic, and analytical chemistry, and will also learn the fundamental aspects of the synthesis, manufacture, use, and mode of action of drugs. Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)

The Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program immerses individuals with previous pharmacist experiences in a demanding and comprehensive curriculum designed to meet the changing needs of today's health care environment. This program builds on the skills acquired in undergraduate pharmacy programs as well as the knowledge obtained through pharmacy practice. The primary objective of the PharmD program is to graduate individuals who can provide and promote excellence in patient-focused care based on the philosophy of pharmaceutical care. The Graduate Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences encompass all aspects of the discovery, development, administration, and utilization of therapeutic drugs. The research-intensive Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy programs offered at the Faculty provide a stimulating and productive environment for graduate education and research for students with degrees in physical, biological, and social sciences. The International Pharmacy Graduate program is a unique best practices bridging program designed to assist pharmacists trained in countries outside of Canada to meet Canadian entry-to-practice standards. Following a rigorous university-based curriculum delivered by experienced faculty, students in this program learn about the roles and expectations of pharmacists in Canada, and develop the skills required to succeed in this country.
