Pharmacy Practice
The Division of Pharmacy Practice at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy examines the role of the pharmacist in providing patient care in various practice settings, and promotes the effective use of medications in patients resulting in positive health outcomes.
Faculty members in the Division of Pharmacy Practice are pharmacists who are generally cross-appointed in clinical sites and are involved in a variety of practices including therapeutic areas (e.g. cardiology, critical care, infectious diseases, rheumatology and psychiatry) and specific patient populations (e.g. geriatrics, pediatrics and women's health). Their practices are located in tertiary care and community hospitals, as well as ambulatory care sites.
Our Vision
To advance pharmacy practice in order to improve the health of individuals and the well-being of society.
Our Mission
The Division of Pharmacy Practice is committed to exemplary teaching and educational leadership, advancing pharmacotherapeutic knowledge, innovative scholarship and service to the community.
Our goal is to link research with teaching and practice through Scholarly Work and Creative Professional Activity. The Division of Pharmacy Practice has identified the following research areas as its priorities: Patient Outcomes, Patient Safety, Knowledge Translation, Pharmacy Education and the Changing Role of the Pharmacist. In addition to practice-related research, our faculty members also bring their expertise to innovative teaching and assessment methodology. In addition to teaching students within our professional (Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and Doctor of Pharmacy) and graduate programs, we are also committed to bringing our research and knowledge to practitioners through continuing education initiatives.
Please see the agenda for the "Division of Pharmacy Practice 2009 Education and Practice Sharing Session" for a snapshot of our scholarly activities.
