Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,

I hope everyone is having a productive start to the term. I am writing with a few reminders about the important health and safety protocol that everyone must follow inside the Pharmacy Building.

To limit the number of individuals inside the building, most of our academic and research operations are virtual with few exceptions for essential in-person activities. For those with approved, essential on-site activities, please remember to wear a mask, complete the UCheck self-assessment, and follow physical distancing.

Masks

Everyone in the building must be wearing a mask. University Policy requires non-medical masks or face coverings to be worn indoors in common-use spaces on University property, including the Pharmacy Building. Face shields are not a replacement for masks.

More information on mask requirements at the University, including accommodation information, is available in the Joint Provostial and Human Resources Guideline on Non-Medical Masks and on the Environmental Health & Safety COVID-19 website.

Building Protocol

The building remains locked 24/7 and is accessible by activated FOB only. If you are not sure if your FOB is active, please contact Tina Harvey-Kane at least 24 hours before coming to the building. For those with approved, essential on-site activities, you will need to scan the posted QR code upon entering the building to complete an online contact tracing form. A paper form is also available at the sign-in table.

Inside the building, we have a number of strategies to prevent COVID-19 infection, including hand sanitizer and hand-washing facilities in work and rest areas, and frequent environmental cleaning in all high-touch areas. Please make sure that you are sanitizing frequently.

UCheck

In addition to the contact tracing form, everyone must also compete UCheck, U of T’s self assessment health screening tool that generates a COVID-19 risk status. It’s required by all students, faculty and staff and is available online (UCheck) or by completing a paper-based log each time you come to campus (available at the sign-in table). No one should come to campus if they receive a red status.

Both UCheck and the online contact tracing form must be completed each day you are on-site.

Physical Distancing

It is critical that everyone follow physical distancing protocol. Our Facilities Team has implemented physical barriers, space markers, and other distancing strategies throughout the building to ensure physical distancing of at least two metres.

Please do not move furniture or remove caution tape. Any individuals found to be disregarding the mask and/or physical distancing protocol will lose building access privileges. If you have any questions about safe building use or concerns, please contact: Tina Harvey-Kane, Director of Facilities Management.

We regularly update our Reopening: Plans and Procedures webpage and encourage everyone to stay informed about access and safety protocol, policies and procedures as our building operations and activities continue to evolve with public health and University guidelines.

We all have a shared interest in working in a safe and healthy environment where everyone is following public health protocol. I ask everyone to do their part to keep our Pharmacy community healthy and safe.

Sincerely,
