Fostering Environmental Sustainability in Pharmacy
In collaboration with the Centre for Sustainable Health Systems at the University of Toronto, this session will bring together perspectives on current and emerging trends regarding the role of the pharmacy sector in contributing to the environmental sustainability of our health systems here in Toronto and globally.
Presenters:
Fiona Miller
Fiona is a Professor of Health Policy in the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation in the Dalla Lana School of Public Health; she holds the Chair in Health Management Strategies, is a Connaught Scholar and is Founding Director of the Centre for Sustainable Health Systems. In this role, Fiona leads and supports efforts to improve the environmental and social sustainability of health systems, through research, practice change and policy advocacy.
Claire Anderson
Claire Anderson is President of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and Chair of Social Pharmacy in the Division of Pharmacy Practice and Policy at the University of Nottingham in England. Her research interests include the role of community pharmacists in improving the health of the public, people’s experiences of using medicines and pharmacy education. She is currently an Associate Director for International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) education and a past president of the FIP Academic Section.
Elen Jones
Elen is the Director for Wales of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society. Prior to this, she was the RPS Policy and Practice Lead in Wales for five years. Elen is a pharmacist with experience in hospital, community pharmacy and has also been a lecturer at Cardiff University.
Christine Donaldson
Christine principals HealthPRO’s Pharmacy portfolio, leading the procurement of pharmaceuticals on behalf of more than 1,300 hospitals across the country. Prior to joining HealthPRO, Christine was Director of Pharmacy Services at Windsor Regional Hospital, where she oversaw pharmacy operations for inpatient pharmacies across two acute care campuses, the regional cancer centre pharmacy and chemotherapy suite, as well as three accredited outpatient pharmacies.
Brenda Chang
Brenda Chang is a Clinical Pharmacy Practitioner at St. Michael’s Hospital Academic Family Health Team. She has been working as a clinical pharmacist for over 15 years. Brenda completed a hospital residency program after her Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy at the University of Toronto and subsequently completed her Doctorate of Pharmacy degree at the University of Colorado. Brenda is actively involved with experiential as well as small group teaching for pharmacy, medical and other learners at her current site of practice.
