Innovations in Pharmaceutical Sciences Seminar Series

Lauren Aleksunes is Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology at Rutgers University. She is a pharmacist and pharmacologist with expertise in mechanistic and clinical toxicology. Lauren’s research team investigates how membrane transporters influence the disposition and toxicity of drugs and environmental chemicals in the placenta, liver, kidneys, and brain. Particular emphasis is placed on determining how interindividual variation in transporter expression and function, due to life stage, genetics/epigenetics, diet, environment, and pre-existing disease, influences susceptibility to chemical toxicity. Lauren has been highly productive with over 140 publications and continuous funding from NIH since 2009.
