Lawrence Jackson received his BScPhm from the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy in 1975 and was appointed Adjunct Professor in 2015. He received his designation as a Certified Training and Development Professional from the Institute for Performance and Learning in 2016.

After graduating from the Faculty, he practiced in community pharmacy for five years, then joined Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, where he has held many roles in both the acute and long-term care divisions. Since 2002, he has been Pharmacy Clinical Coordinator in the Veterans Centre and liaison pharmacist to the Palliative Care Unit and Complex Continuing Care Unit. He has been a leader at the hospital in clinical pharmacy practice and interprofessional education (IPE).

At the Faculty of Pharmacy, Jackson has served as a lecturer and seminar leader since 1994, teaching on the topics of asthma, COPD and geriatric medicine. Since 2000, he has lectured in the International Pharmacy Graduate Program on four therapeutic topics. In 2014, he led the development of a new elective course in the third year of the PharmD program titled “Pharmacotherapy in Older Adults.” He has served as preceptor for pharmacy students throughout his career. His focus on student success and the student-preceptor relationship prompted the article “Strategies pharmacy students can use to ensure success in an experiential placement,” published in 2015 (CPJ 2015;146(6)301-313).

His research focus is in practice-based quality improvement. Since 2002, he has co-authored 32 unique posters and 37 publications, as well as more than 40 presentations at various continuing education venues. He serves as a peer reviewer for multiple academic publications.

He has been a volunteer with the Ontario Respiratory Care Society (ORCS) for more than 25 years, helping the ORCS and the Ontario Lung Association to write and disseminate educational materials for respiratory health professionals.
