Dear Students,

I hope this email finds you well and enjoying your summer!

As you are aware, the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, in keeping with the University of Toronto approach, is preparing for our return to in-person classes for Fall 2021.  Many of you may have seen recent media reports on this topic as well, indicating the Government of Ontario has given approval for universities to fully re-open in September. In light of the recent news, I wanted to follow up to provide you with the information that is currently available to us.

At this time, we are planning to open our doors to welcome back students, faculty, and staff in September.  We are looking forward to returning to in-person learning environments and it is our expectation that all students will be available to attend in-person classes on campus beginning in September.

Based on guidance we have received from the Ministry of Colleges and Universities at this time, we expect the following:

  • All in-person instruction and on-campus activities will be permitted to resume.
  • There will be no capacity limits on university activities, including classes and meetings.
  • There will be no requirements for physical distancing.
  • Masks in indoor spaces will still be required.

Our main priority continues to be the health and safety of our community.  The information above is dependent on strong vaccination rates and thatimproving public health indicators continue over the summer months.  The Faculty will continue to have an alternative path for students should any capacity limit or physical distancing requirement be put in place as the summer progresses.  Our alternative pathway will include in-person learning, hence will still require students to be able to come to campus for components of their course work.

In the coming days and weeks, more detailed information will be sent to you from your Program Directors and the Registrar’s office.  Please read all Faculty communication closely to ensure you are clear on the expectations and requirements for the Fall term.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me directly.

I wish you an enjoyable summer and I look forward to welcoming you back in September.

Best,

Jamie Kellar
