It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our friend and colleague Professor Murray Krahn.
Professor Krahn has been a member of the University of Toronto (U of T) community for over 30 years, first joining the University as an internal medicine resident at the Faculty of Medicine in 1986, and soon after holding appointments at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, Department of Medicine, and Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME).
Over the years, Professor Krahn built an illustrious career as a Scientist and Internist with the University Health Network (UHN) and U of T, with a focus on studying the effectiveness, cost-effectiveness and feasibility of integrating new drugs, technologies and services into the health care system. Most notably, he served as founding Director of the Toronto Health Economics and Technology Assessment Collaborative (THETA) - a multidisciplinary research collaboration that aims to provide evidence-informed advice to health technology policymakers, and held a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Health Technology Assessment.
"The legacy he has left, through his research and through the ongoing work of those he has trained, will continue to benefit society including many direct impacts for patients in our health care system" said Dean Lisa Dolovich.
