Job Description

First Nations pharmacy professor, Jaris Swidrovich, and the Indigenous Pharmacy Professionals of Canada (IPPC) are seeking First Nations, Metis, and/or Inuit adults in Toronto to act as patients in a professional skills lab for second-year pharmacy students in-person at the University of Toronto.

Wednesday, February 5, 2025 from 8:00AM until 5:00PM

Morning session: 8:00AM-1:00PM

Afternoon session: 12:00PM-5:00PM

You will be provided with a script, training, and payment for both your in-person time and virtual preparation.

Job Requirements

Acting experience is preferred but not required.

Strong familiarity with your patient case/script is required; however, you will be permitted to have notes with you. You will portray a patient living with high blood pressure and therefore we are looking for participants who may portray a character approximately between the ages of 30 and 65.

We must run 11 simultaneous rooms in the morning and 10 simultaneous rooms in the afternoon, therefore requiring between 11 and 21 participants. For those participating in both the morning and afternoon on Wednesday, February 5, you will have two cases: one patient case/script for the morning and one different (second) case/script for the afternoon. If you are only able to commit to only the morning or the afternoon, you will have one case.

Employer Overview

We are responding the the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada's Calls to Action #24, which calls for skills-based training for healthcare students in intercultural competency. We are intentional and authentic in our response to this Call to Action and will therefore only invite Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, and/or Inuit) adults to play the roll of Indigenous patients.
