Dear Students,
In follow up to the message sent Friday March 27, we are writing to share the decision regarding rotation Blocks 9 and 10 for students in the PharmD for Pharmacists program. We have prioritized our decision making regarding the interruption with Blocks 9 and 10 and have worked around the clock to listen to your feedback, engage with our counterparts at other health faculties at U of T and across Canada, as well as our preceptor network.
We are now able to confirm the plan for the last two weeks of Block 9 and the first week of Block 10 for this academic year. In consultation with the Provost and Vice-Provost, the Faculty requested and was granted a declaration of academic disruption for the last two weeks of Block 9 and the first week of Block 10 (March 16 to April 3, 2020). This effectively means that Block 9 is considered completed as of March 13, 2020 and your final grade will be the grade you achieved at the midpoint evaluation. This also means that Block 10 will be 4 weeks in duration and will end, as originally planned, on Friday, May 1, 2020. Please be aware that this decision applies only to PharmD for Pharmacists students.
For those students scheduled for Block 10 rotations, you will receive an email from the Program tomorrow with further information. If you were unsuccessful at the midpoint evaluation of Block 9, you will also receive further information from the Program shortly with next steps.
We recognize that the declaration of academic disruption may be disappointing news for those students who were looking forward to continuing Block 9. In the current circumstances, this will no longer be possible. Please reach out to Cecelia Sumi or I should you wish to discuss the implications of the declaration of academic disruption for your experiential education.
Kind regards,
Kathy Vu
