Dear PharmD students,
This week we were pleased to host three virtual town halls for each PharmD class. The purpose of the town halls were to discuss the recent announcements regarding changes to our experiential education rotations. Thank you to the class council representatives for gathering questions in advance and to all who participated in these discussions.
As we continue to work through the many changes and adjustments required in our current circumstances, hearing your feedback and insights is important to us. Having heard from you that you also value these discussions, our program leadership will continue to engage in this way going forward.
Many students have expressed interest in volunteering in COVID-19 related efforts. The University has created a web page to share information on known volunteer opportunities. This resource is a non-exhaustive list of volunteer opportunities in the GTA, aimed at anyone interested in helping combat the virus. If you are currently volunteering or become involved in the future, I encourage you to reach out to our Communications team at the Faculty so they can help amplify your contributions.
I have also attached a letter of support to students from our colleagues at the Ontario Pharmacists Association (OPA). Echoing the message from Justin Bates and Jen Baker, as pharmacy students you are a valued resource in the profession and your new ideas, energy and enthusiasm are greatly appreciated.
Since the beginning of this pandemic, the essential role of pharmacists has been propelled to the forefront alongside many of our allied health professionals. Our overarching plan at the Faculty is to continue to work with you and our partners on integrating your learning into the profession in a way that is responsive to the needs of our patients and community as well as keeping your safety and wellness as a top priority.
Sincerely,
Dean
