The Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy’s Education Office was created in July 2017 and has four major functions:

  • Quality assurance and program evaluation for all academic programs
  • Provide strategic support and direction to all academic programs in the areas of curriculum mapping, course support and integration of teaching technology
  • Streamline processes and ensure efficiencies across all programs
  • Manages cyclical external reviews of all academic programs

Since being established, the Office has been responsible for managing numerous major projects. These include coordinating the University of Toronto Quality Assurance Process (UTQAP) self-study and site visit, providing a program update to the Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs (CCAPP), developing a new curriculum map for the PharmD and PharmD for Pharmacists programs and assisting faculty with the transition of all courses from Portal to the new Quercus system.

The Education Office is led by the Interim Director, Professional Programs and consists of a Director, Education Technology Specialist, Preceptor Engagement Coordinator and an Administrator.

Educational Technology

The Education Office’s Education Technology Specialist (ETS) supports the pedagogically sound design of courses and programs by introducing new learning technologies into the Faculty’s instructional design methodology and course delivery infrastructure to ensure learners have access to effective and engaging learning experiences. The ETS consults with faculty on the creation and enablement of pedagogically sound instructional media and content, determining program learning objectives and recommending technologies to assist in the realization of positive learning outcomes including integrating Faculty pedagogy with Quercus.

The ETS also provides direct support to faculty, staff and students in the use of the Quercus management system in the form of one on one assistance, training sessions (personalized or to a larger group), tools, resources and manuals.
