Shaping Student Life and Learning (SSLL) was established through the generous annual donations of alumni, industry, friends, faculty and staff of the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy. Each year, SSLL funds are available to students at the Faculty in support of various activities that enrich the student experience outside the classroom.

A limited number of predetermined awards are available for funding individual students who apply. The Award Committee reviews applications periodically, awarding funds based on the most current guidelines and available budget. The SSLL year runs May 1st to April 30th, and applications are accepted on an on-going basis. Please note that applications must be submitted a minimum of three weeks prior to an activity and that funding is made available only after the activity has occurred and a final report has been received. Students are eligible for only one grant per year, and Graduate students are limited to a maximum of $2000 for the duration of their program.

Shaping Student Life and Learning (SSLL) Grant Application (2024-25)

Every year, the SSLL application guidelines are updated to remain flexible and relevant to student needs. Please review this FAQs and 2024-25 Grant Descriptions document carefully before applying.  The grants below may have additional conditions for eligibility.

PharmD Students

Domestic APPE Rotations

  • $2,000 – For a 10-week, domestic, in-person APPE placement located more than 80 km from LDFP (144 College Street, Toronto), excluding Kitchener, Waterloo, and Ottawa.
  • $2,000 – For either a 5-week or 10-week, in-person APPE placement located in Northern Ontario. The rotation may be located in (but not limited to) North Bay, Parry Sound, Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury, Thunder Bay, Timmins, etc.
  • $2,000 – **NEW** For a student from Northern Ontario who also qualifies for financial assistance under OTSS/OSOTF guidelines and is completing an APPE placement in any location.

International APPE Rotations 

  • $2,500 – For an APPE placement in North America (outside Canada)
  • $3,000 – For an APPE placement outside North America

Conferences

For travel and expenses related to attending conferences.

  • $100 – Ontario within GTA
  • $200 – Ontario outside GTA
  • $1,000 – National (outside Ontario)
  • $2,000 – International
PharmD for Pharmacist Students

International APPE Rotations 

  • $2,000 – For an APPE placement outside North America

Conferences
