The monthly seminar program for the BMS groups will resume in September 2024. Since there are 30 speakers, there will be 3 to 4 speakers and appropriate chairs in each session. Supervisors of these speakers need to attend the seminars and provide feedback to students. Notifications of the program will be provided by Sitra Mohamed in a timely fashion.
For now, students need to check on their availability for presentation, and, if there is a conflict, obtain permission from coordinator to re-schedule. Students should provide a tentative title to Sitra Mohamed now, and update these when they submit the work summary in form of an abstract, at least 2 weeks prior to presentation. Speakers should submit the abstract and biography (to chair) at least one week before the seminar time to Sitra for posting on Quercus.
- Each student will be allotted a maximum of 30 minutes*
- Presentation: 18 to 20** min, timed by the chair
- Questions and discussions: ~10 min
*it is imperative that presentations are well rehearsed and timed within the maximum time allotted, and that chairs and presenters test slides prior to the beginning of each seminar
**Students in their first year may present 10 min seminars.
Supervisors must attend their own student’s presentation and provide feedback to student at end of session.
Any changes must be approved by the coordinator given there is sufficient justification, e.g. attendance of conference, family events, etc.
